Gauteng Department of Education has confirmed the resignation of the teacher who was accused of sexual relations with a learner at Willowmead Secondary School, Johannesburg.

The department said teacher resigned on 31 March 2017, before they could serve him with a charge sheet.
“The teacher resigned and he will never work at any government school. He resigned before we charged him,” said Gauteng Department of Education’s Spokesperson, Steve Mabona.
According to education legislation, sexual relations between educators and learners at school are totally forbidden, even if the learner consents to sex.  It is appalling and betrays the trust entrusted to the department by the parent.
The department has urged all educators to refrain from all types of misconduct because educators should lead by example to ensure that learners mirror their conduct in creating a safe school environment.
