SUPERSPORT United will approach their CAF Confederation Cup final against TP Mazembe without any fear, so says in form midfielder Aubrey Modiba.
Matsatsantsa a Pitori will meet Mazembe away in Lubumbashi on Sunday in the first leg, before hosting them in the second leg a week later. Mazembe boast a lot of history in the continental competition ,having won the CAF Champions League five times and Confederation Cup once.
They are the reigning champions of the Confederation Cup and will go into this match with a slight advantage. But Modiba, whose side will make their first appearance in the continental final, said they will go there with nothing to lose. “We are at the stage where we don’t fear anything because we’ve been through a lot in this competition,” Modiba said. “We played some big games. We faced a lot of challenges that we had to overcome. Right now we are not focusing on these challenges because we already know what to expect.
“We need to soldier on as players and not think about what they have achieved in the past. We’ve seen tough conditions and this won’t be new to us.”
Having played to a 2-2 draw in Lubumbashi and a goalless draw in the return leg at home in the group stages of the competition in June, the 22 year old expects a tougher encounter on Sunday, but says that they will be ready for any challenges. “Everything will be against us when we go there. The conditions, even the crowd will be more than they were in the last game we played,” Modiba said.
