Tsakane police officers have heeded the call to donate 67 minutes of their time to help those in need on Mandela Day.

The officers together with Women’s Network, Social Crime Prevention Unit, and the local Community Policing Forum have committed themselves to advancing Madiba’s vision of unity, reconciliation, global peace, development, prosperity and a better life for all.

Station commander Colonel Johannes Maass said the officers are also rededicating themselves to serving the communities with dignity and professionalism.

Maass said the police spent Mandela Day cleaning the Tshepo Hope Centre, an NGO that feeds young people after school in the area.

“We were later joined by the visible policing members, each member contributed by painting and cleaning the centre.

“Tsakane Saps identified this centre to extend a helping hand aiming to eradicate poverty in the area and ultimately to eradicate crime.”
